Pair of SE 18 chairs by Bataille & Ibens for 't Spectrum
Rare pair of SE18 chairs by the Belgian designers Claire Bataille and Paul Ibens, produced by 't Spectrum. This model was only produced from 1971 until 1974. Very limited compared to other models by 't Spectrum, hence their rarity.
Very intersting design with the double tubing holding the leather seats and back. Steel tubular frame with thick saddle leather seat and back, finished in black. By the years the leather has developped a stunning patina in shades of brown. What a pair!
The condition of these chairs is very good. No rust to the steel frame. The frame rests on oak strips: this might not be original to the design but are probably as old as the chairs itself. They can easily be removed but we love them and they are part of the history of these chairs! The leather is still firm, has NO RIPS and is well nourished. Ready for another decade of use.
For the collector connaisseur.
Price is for the pair.
