Pair of sculptural chairs by Alejandro Estrada for Piegatto
[SOLD] Plywood 'Contour' or 'S-chair'. A tribute of the Guatemalan designer Alejandro Estrada to the iconic Gerrit Rietveld 'Zig-Zag' chair, published by Piegatto in 2006. The chairs consist of 28 glued and laminated wooden strips. Resulting in a very sculptural design that is very comfortable as well.
About the designer
Born in Guatemala and graduated as an architect from Francisco Marroquín University, Estrada studied and worked as an apprentice sculpturer in Firenze with the artist Armando Basile and in Carrara at the Studio Di Nicola. He works in different fields of architecture, ranging from skyscrapers to social housing and in furniture, creating iconic pieces. He believes in simplicity, beauty and craftsmanship as important elements of good design.
Both chairs are in good condition with some user marks around the edges. No structural damage.
