Pair of cubist ceramic table lamps, 1960's

[SOLD] The jewel in the crown. A pair of truly unique ceramic table lamps, signed 'HT'. Clearly one offs made by a gifted artist in the 1960's. We don't know where to start praising these lamps: the cubist forms are stunning, the colours and patterns continue to amaze and they have this artisinal feel about them. And they come as a pair as well!

The shades have the same honest appearance (most probably the originals) and are undamaged. Their colour is off white.

No chips, no scratches and no colour fading.

If you appreciate the cubist movement*, this set is an unmistakable asset. Rare and unseen before!

*) Cubism is an artistic movement, created by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, which employs geometric shapes in depictions of human and other forms. Over time, the geometric touches grew so intense that they sometimes overtook the represented forms, creating a more pure level of visual abstraction. Though the movement’s most potent era was in the early 20th Century, the ideas and techniques of Cubism influenced many creative disciplines and continue to inform experimental work.
