About Maison Charles

Founded by Ernest Charles, Charles Paris initially specialized in grand-style lighting. It relied on the expertise of French master bronze workers to manufacture its classic chandeliers and wall lights. The company continued this traditional production until the late 1950s. Then, Jean Charles, the grandson, marked a turning point in the Maison's style by creating the decorative lamp. A top graduate of the École Boulle in interior architecture and wood carving, he conceived a base surmounted by a three-dimensional motif, crowned with a lampshade. This led to the creation of the famous Pineapple , Coral , and Pine Cone models —classics in decorative lighting. His brother, Jacques Charles, a graduate of the École des Arts Appliqués in Interior Architecture, designed Inox , a decidedly modern collection. More specifically, metal and bold shapes intertwine to give rise to iconic models such as Orgues and Ogive . [Signatures Singulières]
