Large Giova lamp by Gae Aulenti for Fontana Arte, 1960

Is it a lamp, is it a vase? The Giova marks Gae Aulenti debut in the field of designer lighting. A luminous sculpture in glass that functions as a centerpiece in your interior.
 
This first edition Giova has a chromed metal base and can easily be recognised as such by the shape of the base. There are two sizes, this one being the largest.
The lamp contains a large globe in transparent blown glass and an inner globe in polished white opaline glass. The upper half-sphere in smokey brown glass, can be used as a vase for flowers. A stunning design!
 
In very good condition. Three small chips on the inner edge of the transparant globe. Perfect chrome. Checked, polished and fully functional.
