Iconic lounge chair Barcelona, design Mies van der Rohe

€ 1.600,00Price

Mid century modern lounge chair. Designed by Mies van der Rohe, manufacturer unknown. The Barcelona chair is a chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition of 1929, hosted by Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The chair was first used in Villa Tugendhat, a private residence, designed by Mies in Brno (Czech Republic).

Until know it stays a mystery who produced this specific chair, hence the low price. Looking at the patina of the leather we are sure it has been made in the sixties. Rare, old but unknown heritage.

This chair bears ALL the hallmarks of an original Barcelona chair!

-Stitching

-Shape and dimensions of the cushions

-Dimensions, weight and finish of the frame, incl. the right welds

-Mounting points and screws of the supportive learther straps

-Mounting points of both cushions

The only thing that is different is that it lacks the Knoll print and label at the underside of the seat... From a provenance point of view it makes this chair more unique and intruiging!
