Funky dining table with four chairs, 1960's

[SOLD] Magnificent dining set in the style of Warren Platner and Massoni with four chairs, produced in the 1960's.

In the second half of the sixties the “decorative, gentle and graceful” shapes were beginning to re-infiltrate the modern design vocabulary. It finds its origins in the period of Louis XV (18th century).

This iconic dining table and chairs, create a focal point in any dining room. It is constructed by welding curved steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving as structure and ornament. Production is complicated: the sculptural base is made of many rods bent in gentle curves and requires hundreds of welds. To finish it off, the set is heavily chromed.

The base of the table bears a thick glass top in smokey grey. The chairs still have their original cushions in olive green corduroy fabric (please discuss with us if you prefer another fabric).

As proof of the build quality, this set has withstood time remarkably well. The chrome still retains its beautiful shine with only some flaws at the base of the rods. The glass table top is excellent bar some very minor traces of age. No chips of the glass!

A unique opportunity to own a superior dining set in very good condition. A true design icon!
