[SOLD] Masterpiece floor lamp Birillo by Carlo Nason for AV Mazzega, Italy. Handblown Murano glass in a stunning colour combination of red and white.

 

The Birillo lamp, Italian for "bowling pin", is produced by AV Mazzega of Murano in different sizes, shapes and colours. All these lamps are hand blown and therefore unique pieces that may vary a bit in size and colour.

 

Carlo Nason is an Italian glass artist who is known for his use of historical techniques in producing inventive lamps, vases, and sculptures. Born in 1935 in Murano his family is one of the oldest glass blowing families on the island. Young Carlo was involved in the family company from a very young age. The artist continues until today to live and work in Murano. His work can be found in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

 

This Birillo is still in excellent condition and retains its original Castiglioni switch. Fully rewired, cleaned and checked!
